Rich, smitch.

I was recently accused of “only wanting to find a rich guy.”

Not true.

Firstly, I am not out to “find” any guy, thank you. Secondly, an abundance of money is not important. Financial responsibility is. In any case, what I want is to date successful guys.

Is it true that most successful men are rich? I suppose. But that’s not why I like them.

Tumblr shame

My last post was Nov. 26th 2010. Does this make me a bad person? No, just a lazy tumblr’er. Lots of excuses, but no good reasons. Since Christmas, I’ve been enjoying a holiday hangover: lots of lazy days, a trip to Florida, sleeping in and reading books. I promise to try harder this year. In the meantime, you can find my sass and wit once a week at (newly redesigned) urbanebloc

Senators want to ban Leafs fans from game at Scotiabank Place

From the Ottawa Citizen.

What a bunch of whiners. Boo hoo, we want to ban Leafs fans from coming to games in Ottawa because they yell louder and wear blue and are actually passionate about hockey, which only makes our dismal cheering look lame.

Give me a break. #goleafsgo

My weekend in Montreal summed up in 5 photos

Conquering a smoked meat sandwich from Schwart’s Deli.

Trying on a LanvinxH&M princess dress, without risking my life to grab it.

Spending too much money to get a pair of Leafs vs. Habs tickets for Saturday night’s game.

Me and papa Petrigs, all smiles as we headed to the game. (No smiles as we left.)

Making one final stop at St. Viateur Bagel shop before heading home. (You can try to find a better bagel…but you probably won’t.)

C’était un bon week-end

Let’s define “killer”, shall we?

Can we please stop referring to every new innovation as a “[successful company’s product or service] killer”? (See: Will Motorola’s Droid be a Blackberry Killer or Facebook launches its GMail killer.) This inevitably leads people to believe that the demise of these companies is imminent and let’s get real for a minute: RIM and Google, as examples, are billion dollar companies that continue to generate billions of dollars every quarter. They don’t just die.

That’s all.

I’ve never been a hat person, but after trying on this sweet Canada Goose aviator hat this weekend, I’ve added it to my imaginary wish list.

Found this little guy at Forever21 on the weekend for a measly $7. I’m prone to wearing all-black outfits (not intentional!), so having colourful accessories and nails keeps things moderately exciting. (Polish is OPI’s Red My Fortune Cookie.)

The corporate brand is cramping my personal brand!

A great guest post written by Todd Defren of Shift PR. I often think about the struggle between employer brand vs. personal brand, particularly if you’re an all-star blogger or tweet extraordinaire.

Not sure I agree with Defren’s view that as long as you “draw a paycheque, [your] first duty is to [your] employer.” I imagine most companies do not have the viewpoint that as long as employees work for them, the company’s first duty is to that employee - they’d surely choose to preserve their brands first.

Anyway, interesting debate!

Hello darkness, my old friend

But Sunday night’s “Mad Men” finale reminds us of what Matthew Weiner’s riveting drama captures best of all: the particularly modern affliction of dissatisfaction, a sickness that robs us of our ability to savor the moment, to relish the mundane details of our lives and delight in all of the joys that our comforts and conveniences bring. Perversely, the more comfortable we are, the more we want. We’re constantly distracted by the notion that we could do better or have more, that we might become someone new overnight, that there’s magic or a pot of gold around the next corner. […] We’re each about to win the lottery; salvation lies just around the next bend, we just have to wait and see what happens.

Read the rest here.
